The first corona infection has been seen in locals in Nepal

April 4, 2020, Kathmandu. For the first time in Nepal, the infection of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been observed in locals.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, one of the three newly infected is a 34-year-old woman from Kailali. She is the fourth infected relative.

Expert Advisor of the Ministry of Health Dr. Khem Karki told, “The fourth infected came home from abroad. He went to the hospital after seeing problems including fever. What his relatives now see as the infection is the local transmission of the corona infection.

“According to the World Health Organization (WHO) protocol, this is considered the second phase of corona infection,” he said, adding that if the neighborhood also has an infection, it is called a community transmission.

Community transmission is a pre-existing epidemic. Therefore, this week will be very important for Nepal expert advisor of the Ministry Dr. Karki explained.

Earlier, six infections seen in Nepal were seen only from foreigners.
