Black Day on the History of Nepal
Jestha 19, 2058
On the night of June 1st, 2001 when the whole nation was sleeping soundly, bullets rained in the Royal Palace of Nepal and killed the then King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya and other 8 members of the Royal family and the day has been carved as the Black Day on the History of Nepal. The blame of the massacre fell on the head of the Crown Prince Dipendra, who died after being in a coma on June 4th, 2001. Then, the throne of the King went to the King’s brother Gyanendra.
Based upon some facts and scenarios, a government-appointed inquiry team upon investigation named Crown Prince Dipendra as the perpetrator of the massacre. But the reports also emerged that Dipendra was already killed some minutes before the massacre. Hence, the actual culprit of the massacre is still a mystery. As per the investigating authorities, it was reported that Dipendra slipped into a coma after shooting himself.
Its June 1st, 2020 today, its been 19 years since that day, and to date the perpetrator hasn’t been declared. Crown Prince has been blamed for all this and has been printed as the person responsible for the massacre on the history. But the general public still to this day disagrees to believe this and still call its “The Grand Design”. Its will be 20 years next year, will I still be writing this same article next year on this day? Will I still be questioning who the killer of the beloved King and Queen is? Will the King and Queen ever get justice?
